behind the name
Bemusedly: bewildered or confused; lost in thought; preoccipied
The above is the definition of the word bemusedly according to the site Dictionary.com. For those of you who know me in real life, no further explanation is needed. However, I am almost positive that nobody who exists there has visited my personal website…beyond my Mom and she doesn’t really care. So, I am suppose to be explaining why I chose Bemusedly for the name of my website, but I honestly don’t see the point and I would much rather play The Sims Social or some other game on Facebook or comment other people’s sites. Oops! Sorry! I kind of got preoccupied for a minute there…but I suppose that this did kind of explain a bit what I needed. I am a total ditz, and I have a tendency to be easily distracted.
Therefore, I chose bemusedly because I wanted a domain that described me completely. I wanted it to be more personal than my previously owned domains (girldisappearing.org or nouveau-prep.net). I am hoping that by developing this domain that it would allow me to grow and change as a person.
why a .net
I chose to purchase a .net because it is short for network. So, what does that have to do with anything?! Well, I am wanting to have a writing portfolio, a fanlisting collective, a message board, and so many other things – however, I do not know when I will be able to get another domain. With a network extension, I know that it won’t be too weird for me to have all of them on the same site.
However, at the current time, I much prefer to have everything on separate websites except for the hosting. I am more concerned at the current time with getting one thing done at a time.
choosing a host
Bemusedly is hosted by JustHost1, and has been since its creation on May 6th, 2010. I chose JustHost because I had heard so many good things about them, and because I wanted a hosting company that I knew wasn’t going to close within 6 months of purchase.
Previously, I have been hosted at Parade Host and it was the worst experience ever. My domain nouveau-prep.net was down more often than not, and it went through owner changes every other week it seemed.
I definitely do not recommend getting hosting from them.
Conclusions
I guess that the lesson that you can take from all of this is to thoroughly research your host before choosing one and to pick a domain that will reflect who you are as a person both now and in the future.
